How often do I need repair?
Heating and cooling systems lose efficiency over time and eventually they wear out and need replaced. One of the surest ways to tell if you need a new system is to think about how often you are having repairs. If your system has needed repairs more than three times in one season, you should really consider having it replaced. Repairs are not always cheap, and you could be throwing money into something that needs replacement anyhow. Often a new heating or cooling system replacement can be cheaper than to keep getting it repaired.
Our HVAC experts specialize in the design and build of boiler, heating and air systems. Whether it is the design and installation of new HVAC systems or preventative maintenance to ensure that your system is functioning properly, TOBIN HVAC can assist you. Trust in the experts!
Does TOBIN HVAC have an energy-efficient furnace?
If your furnace is nearing the 10-year mark it probably has a SEER (seasonal energy efficiency ratio) rating lower than the national standard. Operating cost is another deciding factor when considering replacement of an older and probably inefficient system. You can save money every month on your energy bills by replacing your old furnace unit with a new energy-efficient model.
A new furnace can transform your home or office. In addition to upping your comfort levels, more modern furnaces are much more advanced than they used to be. In addition to greater customization and integration into home automation systems, newer furnaces are better for the environment. Many also come with advanced air treatment features, enabling you to both heat your home and more effectively remove allergens, bacteria, viruses, and other pollutants from the air.
Is It Time to Replace Your Furnace?
Most gas forced air furnaces are designed to last for around 15 to 20 years. With proper care and maintenance, you can expect to enjoy the full lifespan of your furnace. However, there will come a day when it needs to be replaced. As your furnace loses efficiency, and as parts wear out and break, it becomes more cost-effective to replace your furnace with a new one rather than making continued repairs. Our professional installation team will help you determine when it is the right time to replace your furnace.
A Furnace or A/C/HP installation is a costly project and TOBIN HVAC will get it done turn-key. Meaning the labor and equipment, including all disposal of old equipment is factored into the job and quoted up-front. We give you an up-front price to get the job done right the first time, not coming back for more money once you commit to using TOBIN HVAC for your furnace replacement.
Lennox Furnaces and A/C systems come with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty, which reverts to 5-years if the home sells. We offer a standard 2-year labor warranty, assuming proper maintenance is performed by TOBIN HVAC.
What is a Heat Pump?
In the simplest terms, a heat pump is a piece of HVAC equipment that transfers heat from outdoors to indoors and vice versa, working as both a furnace and air conditioner, switching between the two functions with a device known as a reversing valve. The two main types of heat pumps are water source and air source.
Water source heat pumps either transfer heat from a building supplied closed loop water source or from an in-ground closed loop water piping system. Systems that utilize a closed loop underground water source are known as geothermal or ground source heat pumps. The layout of structures and utilities of existing properties makes geothermal heat pumps impractical or too costly for most existing homes as a retrofit option. However, if you are building from the ground up, geothermal systems offer the most efficient means of heating and cooling your home compared to conventional air source heat pumps.
Air source heat pumps or air-to-air heat pumps are what are the most practical and commonly utilized for single family homes today. The two main types of air source heat pumps are centrally ducted or ductless mini split systems. Centrally ducted systems utilize either air handlers or gas furnaces to serve the entire house or large sections of the house. However, ductless mini split systems serve individual rooms which allows for greater energy efficiency and as well as zoning for improved comfort.
TOBIN HVAC provides centrally ducted air source heat pump installation, service and maintenance, ductless mini split heat pump installation, service and maintenance, and air Source heat pump installation considerations.
What is the difference between a tank and tankless water heater?
The tank water heaters usually hold 40 or 50 gallons of water at a preset temperature that is usually set between 120 to 130 degrees. When you use the hot water it is taken from the tank and replaced with cold water which is then heated. You need to choose the size that corresponds with the peak hour of hot water use in your home.
You need to choose between gas and electric for your tank water heater. If you are already set up for gas then your old heater will typically be set up on gas as well. In years past gas water heaters were preferred over electric simply because gas was cheaper to operate over electric water heaters. New products currently on the market have changed this thinking especially if your home has PV solar panels and you generate a surplus of electricity. Electric hybrid heat pump water heaters are available now which make how water more efficiently than standard electric water heaters of the past and present.
A tankless water heater also known as instantaneous heats the cold water as needed so you do not have to pay to store the hot water but the cost is significantly higher. We typically recommend these when a lot of hot water is needed or when trying to save space. Over time you will save some money with this option but it typically takes several years to reach your breakeven point.
When should I replace or repair my air conditioner?
When determining if you should replace your air conditioner, there are several factors to take into account. One key consideration is the age of the A/C unit. Typically, A/C units have a lifespan of around 15 years. If your system is approaching or has surpassed 10 years, it may be prudent to explore your options for A/C replacement. This is particularly important as older systems manufactured prior to 2010 often utilized Freon or R22, which is being phased out by the EPA. Consequently, the limited supply of these refrigerants has resulted in exorbitant costs per pound. Rather than investing a substantial amount of money in repairing an old system, now may be an opportune moment to invest in a new A/C unit.
If your air conditioner requires frequent repairs, it may be a sign that you need a new unit. Having your AC serviced more than three times in a single that a replacement is worth considering. Continuously paying for repairs can be costly, and replacing the unit might be a more cost-effective solution in the long run. In many cases, getting new air conditioner can be more affordable than repeatedly repairing the old one.
If your air conditioner is almost 10 years old, it likely has a SEER rating below the national standard, which can lead to higher operating costs. When thinking replacing an older and less efficient system, the amount of money you can save on monthly energy bills is an important air conditioning unit, you can reduce energy expenses. Additionally, homeowners in the Denver Metro area can benefit tax rebates when they install a new air conditioner.
What type of Air Quality services do you provide?
Air Quality Products
We spend 90% of our time indoors and the air indoors can be more hazardous than outdoor air. The most common ways to improve the air in your home are: better filtration, air purifiers, and humidifiers.
Air Filters
The better the filter the smaller the particles it can filter out of the air. Filtration can remove allergens and particulates in the air that contribute to asthma, congestion, coughing, etc. Be sure to clean your filter regularly.
Air Purifiers
UVC & UVU light is effective against agents that contribute to sinuses, respiratory infections, ear & throat infections, bronchitis, and pneumonia. They reduce toxic agents and odors.
Humidifiers
The optimal humidity level helps keep you healthy and can prevent dry skin, bloody nose, chapped lips, and other effects of dry air. Humidity reduces static electricity and keeps wood floors, doors, and furniture from shrinking during the dry season.
In most cases, we can respond to your service needs immediately, seven days a week.
